Public roup of Macduff feu

HOUSES IN MACDUFF FOR SALE.

There will be exposed for sale by public roup, within the house of Robert Mathieson, vintner in Macduff (if not previously disposed of by private bargain), upon Tuesday the 31st day of March current,

THAT FEU TENEMENT in MACDUFF, with the HOUSES built thereon, consisting of TWO commodious DWELLING HOUSES, presently occupied by John Innes, Shoemaker, and Alexander Henry.  A Barn and Byre, which, for a trifling expence, might also be converted into a Dwelling House - together with a small Garden, containing Fruit-trees &c.  The Houses are substantial, in good repair, and pleasantly situated.

The roup to begin at twelve o'clock noon, and, in the meantime, particulars may be obtained, by applying to George Dawson, Writer in Banff, in whose hands are the title-deeds; or to the said John Innes, who will show the Premises to intending purchasers.

NOTICE TO DEBTORS.

SALE OF GROUND, AND HOUSES, &c.

On Thursday the 11th of December next, there will be exposed to sale by public roup, in Dempster's Hotel, Aberdeen, at one o'clock afternoon,

THE following SUBJECTS belonging to the Trustees of the Deceased ALEXANDER TYTLER, Shoemaker in Aberdeen, in separate Lots, viz,

1.  That INCLOSURE of LAND with the HOUSES, on the Stocket brae, lying on the east side of Provost More's property, and adjoining that of Bailie McCombie, presently occupied by Donald Brownie, and measuring about two acres.

THOSE having claims on ALEXr. TAIT, Shoemaker in St. Fergus, are requested to lodge the same with William Gamack, writer in Peterhead, within a fortnight from this date; with Certification to those creditors who fail to comply with this intimation, that they will receive no share of the Bankrupt's funds then to be divided; and the Debtors to the said Alexr. Tait will take notice that Prosecutions are immediately to be raised against them, unless prevented by payment.

Craigwell Croft, Aberdeen

HERITABLE PROPERTY FOR SALE.

Upon Friday the 10th day of June next, at 6 o'clock in the evening, there will be exposed to Sale, by public roup, within the Lemon Tree Tavern of Aberdeen, (if not previously disposed of by private bargain.)

THAT PIECE of GROUND, Part of CRAIGWELL CROFT, situated in the vicinity of the Den-burn, on the south side of the turnpike road leading from Aberdeen to Skene, and belonging to PETER CALDER, Shoemaker in Auchterless; with the Dwelling House and Shop thereon, possessed by Serjeant George Barclay, George Baxter, Shoemaker, and others.

This Property is burdened with a small feu-duty - lies in a most central situation; and is, in every respect, well worth the attention of any person wishing to lay out a little money to advantage.

Robert Shand, Bognie

Died at Bognie, on the 21st Feb. aged 86, ROBERT SHAND, one, perhaps, of the most extraordinary pedestrians in this pedestrian age.  He continued to possess all his faculties, especially his activity, to the last hour of his existence.  In his 85th year, he was employed as runner from the parish of Forgue to the Post Office at Huntly, where he went three times a-week, sometimes oftener; which distance (14 miles going and returning) he accomplished with ease in less than 4 hours.  The same year, he offered, for a bet of 20s., to walk to Aberdeen, and return within 24 hours, a distance of at least 70 miles.  He was originally bred a shoemaker, but for several years past worked as a day labourer; and last summer, was occasionally employed in casting divots, a work that required considerable strength and exertion; and has been known to go to Banff, distant 15 miles, upon a trifling errand, after performing a hard day's labour.  The last day of his life he eat his breakfast as usual; and was arrested by the hand of death while enjoying his favourite exercise of walking some distance, carrying a bundle of sticks he had collected for fuel.

NOTICE TO CREDITORS

A DIVIDEND of the whole proceeds of the subjects which belonged to JAMES SANGSTER, Shoemaker in Rumblinpots, parish of New Deer, will be made on Monday the 31st of January inst. within the house of Mr Stewart, vintner, Mormond Village, by 10 o'clock forenoon.  And such of his Creditors as have not lodged their claims, are desired to lodge them, with affidavit thereon, with John Woodman, at Old-manse, Strichen, previous to said day; and such as fail to comply with this intimation, will not be entitled to any share of the proceeds of the said James Sangster's subjects. - [Not to be repeated.]

George Copland, Dyce

DEFAMATION.

WHEREAS some evil disposed person or persons have lately propagated a report that GEORGE COPLAND, Farmer and Shoemaker at Pitmedden, in the parish of Dyce, has been in the practice of employing himself as a common Informer, seemingly with intent to ruin him in the estimation of his friends and neighbours, and thereby to work the overthrow of him and his family; and as the charge is false and totally without foundation, on his part, he hereby offers a Reward of TEN GUINEAS to any person who will give such information as may be the means of bringing the first propagator of this false and malicious libel to justice and conviction.

Boy killed by coal cart

A shocking accident happened on Friday in the Broad Street. - As a boy was running across the street from Long Acre, his foot slipped, and he fell before a loaded coal-cart, one of the wheels of which passing over his neck, killed him on the spot.  He was a fine boy of about 10 years of age, the son of a Shoemaker of the name of Reid, at Gilcomston, who, as well as the disconsolate mother, are in a situation of inexpressible distress.  It is but justice to add, that no blame seems to attach to the driver, who was carefully holding the halter of his horse; and although driving slowly, did not observe the sudden accident of the boy's fall, so as to prevent the melancholy consequence.

THE Debtors of HUGH IMLAY, Shoemaker in Aberdeen, are requested to make payment immediately, of what they ower him to James Mathews, Shoemaker in Queenstreet, who is authorised to discharge the same; as a prosecution is about to be commenced against them.  And the creditors of the said Hugh Imlay are desired to lodge their claims, with affidavits, on or before the 19th June curt. with the said James Mathews, or John Ramage, Leather Merchant in Aberdeen, Trustees for his creditors.

A meeting of the creditors will be held within the Writing Room of Alexander Allan, Advocate, Broadstreet, Aberdeen, on the said 19th curt. at 6 o'clock afternoon, when they are requested to attend.

NOTICE TO DEBTORS AND CREDITORS

AND HOUSE FOR SALE.

THOSE having claims against HUGH IMLAY, Shoemaker in Aberdeen, are required to lodge the same, and affidavits thereon, with James Matthews or John Ramage, leather-merchants in Aberdeen, trustees for his creditors, on or before the 20th of February next. - And such as are indebted to the said Hugh Imlay, are required to pay the amount of what they are due him, within the same period, to the said James Matthews, who is authorised to discharge the same.
