Owing to the extensive stock of Cattle on hand at present, there will be sold by public roup, on Tuesday the 10th January 1815, at the Farm of Newpark, parish of Newhills, presently possessed by JAMES WATT,

ABOUT 40 head of FAT CATTLE; 2 pairs of excellent WORK HORSES, and a nice PONEY; about 4,000 Stones of Hay; some Ricks of CORN and FODDER; together with some Carts and Farming Utensils.  The roup to begin precisely at 10 o'clock forenoon, and credit will be given on security.

Kincardineshire Farms

VALUABLE FARMS IN KINCARDINESHIRE,

TO LET.

THE following FARMS, in the Parish of Inverbervie, are to be let for 19 years from Martinmas next, viz:--

1st.  MAINS of HALLGREEN, containing about 200 acres arable, and 40 acres of pasture, all lying above the turnpike road leading from Bervie to Montrose, and as presently possessed by Andre Keddy.

2d.  SILLYFLATT, as lately possessed by David Brown, containing about 140 acres arable, and 15 acres of pasture.

3d.  About 50 acres of very rich arable land, and 5 acres of pasture, adjoining to the Town of Inverbervie, and Castle of Hallgreen.

These farms consist of very superior Wheat soil, with a south exposure; and are situated in the immediate vicinity of Inverbervie, and the sea port town of Gourdon; the turnpike road to Montrose passes through the lands, and few arms enjoy more local advantages, having an inexhaustible supply of Sea Weed from the Ware-hole of Gourdon, and shores of the estate, with a considerable command of Manure from the above towns.  The Town of Gourdon affords a well frequented Harbour for importing Lime and Coals, and exporting the produce of the lands, and a good weekly market is always found at Montrose, distant only 11 miles from the farms.  The Dwelling Houses and Steadings on the farms of Mains of Hallgreen and Sillyflatt are very commodious and complete, with a Thrashing Mill belonging to the proprietor attached to each steading.  

The farms will be found in excellent condition, and the entry of the incoming tenants highly favourable.

Mains of Williamston

VALUABLE FARM IN THE GARIOCH TO LET.

ON Saturday the 30th of October, at 11 o'clock, forenoon, there will be Let, at Pitmachie, the Farm of MAINS of WILLIAMSTON, lately occupied by JOHN ROGER, with the adjoining possession lately occupied by Peter Wood, for a lease of 19 years from Martinmas first.  These Farms together consist of about 165 Scots acres, mostly arable, of excellent soil, well adapted for Turnip husbandry, and under proper cultivation capable of bearing every species of grain crop.  The distance from Aberdeen is 26 miles, from Inverury, where lime and colas may be always had by the Canal, 11 miles, and from Huntly 9 miles, and the turnpike road passes through the Farm.  On the premises there is a substantial steading, all covered with slate, and the Barn is adapted for a Threshing machine, with the benefit of water.

Kincardineshire Farms

VALUABLE FARMS IN KINCARDINESHIRE

Entry at Whitsunday next.

THE Farm of BROOMBANK, as presently possessed by the assignees and subtenants of the late James Campbell, consisting of about 245 acres; about 211 of which is fine arable fertile dry early soil, with a south exposure, well adapted for the production of all sorts of grain and green crops; and 34 acres of fine green braes and pasture; lying in the parish of Glenbervie, close to the village of Drumlithie, within about six miles of Stonehaven, five of Bervie, twelve of Montrose, and intersected by the turnpike road leading from Stonehaven to Laurencekirk.  Entry by Whitsunday 1813.

AND

MEETLAW consisting of about 97 acres arable, presently and for several years in grass; lying in the parish of Arbuthnott, within less than five miles of Stonehaven, and also intersected by the foresaid turnpike road.

Both farms will be shown by Alexander Reid, ground-officer at Drumlithie; and every proper encouragement given to good tenants, and none else need apply.

Haughs of Ashogle

CAPITAL FARM IN ABERDEENSHIRE,

TO BE SUBSET.

The valuable and extensive Farm of HAUGHS of ASHOGLE, in the parish of Turriff, presently in the possession of GEORGE GERARD, Esq. will be subset for the remainder of the Lease, being Ten Crops.

There are in the possession of the present tenant, about 600 acres of Land, in excellent order, rent free, the Proprietor's rent being rather more than paid by two detached sub-tenants.

The farm is most beautifully situated on the Banks of the Doveron, ten miles from Banff, where, and at Macduff, there is always plenty of lime and coal imported, and within two miles of the Post Town of Turriff.  The Mansion House is commodious, and capable of accommodating a large family.  There is a capital Threshing Machine driven by water on the premises, and the accommodation in the other Offices is more extensive and complete, it is believed, than on any other farm in the country.  There is likewise a very snug and productive little Garden, well stocked with Fruit Trees of all kinds in full bearing.  The tenant is entitled to the full value of all the houses on the farm, at the expiry of the lease.

Balmakessie, Ellon

FARM TO LET.

Upon the Estate of WATERTOWN, belonging to the Hon. W. Gordon of Ellon,

THE Farm of BALMAKESSIE, presently possessed by James Robertson, will be let, within the house of James Murray, vintner in Ellon, on Thursday the 8th of April next, at 12 noon, for Nineteen years from Whitsunday next, either for a Grassum, or an additional yearly rent, as may be agreed on.  The above farm consists of from 50 to 60 acres, all of very superior, rich and early soil.  The turnpike road from Aberdeen to Peterhead goes close by the farm.  It is only three miles from the port of Newburgh, where there is a ready market for all sorts of Grain.

In the mean time, offers may be given in to Mr Cumming, at Ellon Castle; and John Sangster, in Ellon, will shew the boundaries of the land.

Kinmundy fire

Upon the night of the 12th inst. an alarming fire was discovered in the stack yard of James Tod, in Petemarcus of Kinmundy. - The devouring element, before assistance could be got, had consumed two ricks of oats, one of pease, and a large stack of hay; but by the vigorous exertions of the neighbours, the rest was preserved.  Whether the fire proceeded from accident or design is not yet known.

Farm of Auchinbadie, Alvah

FARM TO LET.

THE Farm of AUCHINBADIE, in the parish of Alvah and county of Banff, as lately possessed by the deceased Thomas Cave, is to be let and entered to at Whitsunday first.  It consists of about 100 acres of fertile early soil, pleasantly situated on the banks of the Dovern, within four miles of Banff and Macduff, and there is upon the Farm, a good slated Dwelling House of two stories, with suitable Offices.  Also the MILL and MILL CROFT of AUCHINBADIE, as possessed by Alexander Finlater.

VALUABLE FARM IN THE GARIOCH.

THE Farm of MAINS of WILLIAMSTON, occupied by John Roger; and the adjoining Farm occupied by Peter Wood; both in the parish of Culsalmond; and consisting together of about 165 acres, mostly arable, are to be let for such number of years as may be agreed on.

On the premises there are a Dwelling House of two stories, and a Steading of Offices, all substantially built of Stone and Lime, with Roofs of foreign wood covered with Slate.  The Barn is adapted for a Threshing Machine, with the benefit of water, of which there is a great command; and the Led is already cut.  These Farms are within 11 miles of the Inverury Canal; and the turnpike road leading to Huntly passes through them.

Nether Mains of Davidstown, Cairnie

In the Parish of Cairney, Aberdeenshire.

THE NETHER MAINS of DAVIDSTOWN, as lately possessed by Mr ARCHIBALD MILNE, and now by his heirs, consisting of about forty arable acres, and some pasture.

This farm was all well limed some years ago; and has since been laboured in a five-shirt rotation, in which it is at present; and the greater part of it inclosed.

There is a large commodious and substantial Dwelling House, with a complete Steading of Offices on the premises.  Such a situation for a Gentleman wishing a convenient residence, is seldom to be met with; and will be let for eight or nine Crops, entry immediately, or at Whitsunday next.

THE Farm of EASTER BALDAVIE and RAGGAL, as presently possessed by JAMES ROSS, consisting of about two hundred acres, a great deal being of an excellent clay soil, in good order, and fit to carry weighty crops of wheat.  It is situated near the post road, about equal distance between Banff and Portsoy, with a commutation road through the farm.  The farm-house and offices are lately and substantially built by the present tenant.  Further particulars will be known by applying to James Ross, at Easter Baldavie, near Banff, either personally, or by letter post-paid.

Farms in Parish of Cruden

FARMS TO LET.

THE following FARMS, on the Lands and Estate of AUCHLEUCHRIES, lying in the parish of Cruden, and county of Aberdeen, are to be let for such number of years as may be agreed on, after Whitsunday next.

The Farm of EASTERTOWN, as presently occupied by George Brook, measuring upwards of two hundred acres, a great proportion of which is infield.

Also, the Farm of BOGS, as presently occupied by John Forbes, measuring upwards of forty-five acres, to which some additional ground can be added if wanted by a tenant.

These farms are situated in a part of the country where there is a ready market for all sorts of grain, being only 10 miles distant from Peterhead, and 4 from Newburgh, also a sea port; at which last place Lime is imported for sale.

The turnpike roads from Ellon to Peterhead and Fraserburgh, pass quite close to these farms, particularly Eastertown, which is deserving the attention of a tenant of skill and capital, and to whom good encouragement will be given.

The marches and boundaries will be pointed out by applying at the House of Auchleuchries.

Fire at Kinbattoch, Towie

A most alarming and destructive fire happened lately in the parish of Towie, which burnt to the ground a fine square of Offices, consisting of the Kiln and Barn, Stables, Byres, Cart-shade, &c. belonging to Mr Meston, Farmer at Kinbattoch.  The fire was not discovered until the flames had got to such a height that all attempts to arrest their progress proved fruitless; and so rapidly did the devouring element spread, that the whole was soon consumed, the roofs of the several buildings, covered with slate, being of the best resinous Highland fir wood, tending to strengthen the conflagration. - Seven fine Cows and a Bull fell victims to the flames, and by their dreadful bellowing and noise, added to the awfulness of the scene: two of them were got out alive by a passenger, with great hazard to himself, but both died afterwards.  A variety of Farming Utensils, Cloaths, &c. were consumed; as also, a considerable quantity of Grain, part of it on the Kiln, which, being overheated, is supposed to have occasioned the accident.  Fortunately the men servants, who were accustomed to sleep in the lofts near the Kiln, were at the time engaged as Local Militiamen, otherwise the consequences might have been more tragical.  Mr Meston's loss, we regret to learn, is very great, as none of the premises were insured; but it was prevented from being still more considerable, by the accidental circumstances of his Horses, and some other Cattle, being neglected to be taken from the grass parks the night the fire happened.

Many of the Farms are extensive and of fine early soil, particularly those in Morayshire, and all of them susceptible of great improvement, the marches are made regular and convenient, and will be shewn by the Ground Officers of the different estates.  Two or more lots will be joined together, according to the wishes of the candidate at the time of setting; and proper encouragement will be given for Houses and for Enclosing where the extent of ground requires it.

Newton of Auchingoul, Inverkeithny

CONVENIENT SMALL FARM.

Inverkeithny, Banffshire.

To be let at KNOCK, upon Monday, 11th of May 1812, NEWTON OF AUCHINGOUL, as lately possessed by JOHN COWIE, deceased.  Entry Whitsunday first.  The lease fourteen years: - this may be considered short, but the farm has been under good management, and the tenant will get ground, and all the dung for turnips, at a fair value, and the sown grass, if he inclines.  The houses are almost new.

Borowstoun, Newhills

FARM TO LET.

THAT Farm on the Lands of BOROWSTOUN, and parish of Newhills, presently in the possession of ALEX. MEARNS - consists of 11 inclosures, in all about 18 Scotch Acres; is well improved, and in good heart, having been all occasionally in green crop within these few years.  It is situated only 6 English miles from Aberdeen, and is accommodated with plenty of moss and good spring water in many of the parks.  The fine house, containing 5 separate apartments and the office-houses, are substantial, and in good repair.  The whole will be let for twenty-one years and crops, from and after Whitsunday next.
