John Forbes, escaped prisoner

ESCAPE FROM THE JAIL OF ELGIN.

WHEREAS, JOHN FORBES, Ship Carpenter, last at Fochabers, incarcerated at the instance of the Procurator of the Sheriff Court of Elginshire, effected his Escape from the Jail of this place, on Friday evening the 24th current.

The Magistrates of Elgin hereby offer

A REWARD OF FIVE GUINEAS,

to any person who shall apprehend and secure the said John Forbes; besides all expences incurred on his apprehension, to be paid by the Town Treasurer.

Description. - The said John Forbes is about 5 feet 9 inches high; dark complexioned, black hair, black eyes, with arched eye-brows, about 22 years of age, an active figure; and had on, at the time of his escape, a long blue coat, and grey trowsers.

Roup at Greenbog, Grange

ADVERTISEMENT.

There is to be sold by public roup, at Greenbog, in the parish of Grange, on Monday the 11th of October first,

THE whole SUBJECT that belonged to the deceased JOHN FORBES in Greenbog, consisting of sundry articles of HOUSEHOLD FURNITURE, and FARMING UTENSILS, as also all the CATTLE belonging to him, consisting of 13 three years old, 2 two years old, 1 one year old, a Cow, a Calf, and a Horse.

There is also to be let, for the remainder of the Season, the liberty of PASTURING on the Grass at CANTLY, rented by him; and also of the Grass Enclosure belonging to him at ABERLOUR.

The roup to begin at 12 o'clock noon; and credit to be given on finding sufficient security.

All those having Claims against the subject of the said John Forbes, are desired to lodge the same with Messrs Al. Thorburn in Drum, or John Grant, jun. in Auchenhove, his executors; and those who are indebted to him, will please pay the same to his said executors.

Farms in Parish of Cruden

FARMS TO LET.

THE following FARMS, on the Lands and Estate of AUCHLEUCHRIES, lying in the parish of Cruden, and county of Aberdeen, are to be let for such number of years as may be agreed on, after Whitsunday next.

The Farm of EASTERTOWN, as presently occupied by George Brook, measuring upwards of two hundred acres, a great proportion of which is infield.

Also, the Farm of BOGS, as presently occupied by John Forbes, measuring upwards of forty-five acres, to which some additional ground can be added if wanted by a tenant.

These farms are situated in a part of the country where there is a ready market for all sorts of grain, being only 10 miles distant from Peterhead, and 4 from Newburgh, also a sea port; at which last place Lime is imported for sale.

The turnpike roads from Ellon to Peterhead and Fraserburgh, pass quite close to these farms, particularly Eastertown, which is deserving the attention of a tenant of skill and capital, and to whom good encouragement will be given.

The marches and boundaries will be pointed out by applying at the House of Auchleuchries.

Offers to be given in to Thomas Sangster, Advocate in Aberdeen, who will inform as to farther particulars.
