To bet Let, and entered to at Whitsunday first, for such number of years as may be agreed on,

THE FARMS of OLDTOWN of NETHERDALE, as presently possessed by James Adam and Alex. Andrew, consisting of about 250 Scots Acres; And COBLE-HOUSE and BOAT, possessed by GEORGE RUDDOCH, consisting of 31 Scots Acres or thereby, lying in the parish of Marnoch, and County of Banff.

These Farms are contiguous, and will be Let together or separately.  They are beautifully situated on the Banks of the Dovern, of an early fertile soil, in all respects well accommodated, having Lime at a reasonable distance, near Markets, and easy access to the Turnpike Roads leading to Banff, Macduff, and Portsoy, and are an object deserving the attention of tenants of capital and enterprise, to whom liberal encouragement will be given.

There are also several commodious CROFTS to be Let, of from Two to Three Acres each, of good Land, very suitable for Tradesmen or Day-Labourers - and for one of these, a BLACKSMITH is Wanted, who, if a capable hand, will find the situation desirable.

Also a small CROFT on the Estate of Muirs of Fyvie, which will be shewn by James Gordon, Ground-Officer there.

The whole will be Let at Netherdale-House on Wednesday the 25th day of November curt. at 10 o'clock forenoon, until which day offers in writing will be received by the proprietor there.

AND

The same day and place, ESTIMATES will be taken in, and agreements entered into, with Contractors willing to execute about two miles and something odds, of Commutation Road, from the old Road near Auchenhamper thro' the Farms of Auchinina and the Plantation of Loghill, to Kirkton of Inverkeithny, to be divided into Lots.

The Farms, Crofts, and boundaries, with the line of Road, plan and specifications, will be pointed out, and shewn of John Brown, Overseer at Netherdale, or on the day of Let.

Farm leases in King Edward

LANDS TO LET.

To be Let and entered to at the Term of Whitsunday, 1818,

THE FARM of MAINS of EDEN and SANDSTOWN, lying within the Parish of King Edward and County of Aberdeen, as possessed by Mr McKay, containing above Eighty Acres of fine Arable and Cultivated Lands, besides an extent of Pasture lying on the east-side of the river Doveran, and of a rich and early soil, yielding the best Crops,

AS ALSO,

The FARM of HILLHEAD of EDEN, as possessed by George Ingram, containing about 53 Acres, the greater part of which is Arable, and lyes continuous, and adjoining the Mains of Eden &c. and also of good early soil.

These Lands lye at about the distance of three or four miles from the sea-ports of Banff and Macduff, where Lime and Manure is to be had; and the turnpike road leading northward from Aberdeen, runs along the Estate.

Encouragement will be given to industrious tenants; and application may be made to Mr Reid, Town-Clerk, Banff.

There will be Let, at INNES HOUSE, on Tuesday the 13th day of September 1814, for Leases of such endurance as may be agreed upon,

THE following POSSESSIONS, viz.:  

County of Banff, Parish of Marnoch.

LONGHAUGH of KINNAIRDY, occupied by Jno. Hacket.

County of Moray, Parishes of St Andrew's and Rafford.

MOSS-SIDE of BLERVIE, occupied by Alexander Dunbar.

EASTER BROCKLACH of DITTO, occupied by Alex. Smith

AND

BOGTOWN of COXTON, occupied by Alex. Gill.

The entry to be at Whitsunday first.

These Possessions are of fine early soil, all of them susceptible of great improvement; and Longhaugh and Bogtown are of very considerable extent, - particularly Longhaugh, which is situated on the banks of the Doveron, and bounded by that river on the south.

The ground officers will point out the marches; and for farther particulars, application may be made to Mr Stronach, at Knock, as to Longhaugh; and to Mr Williamson, at Innes, as to the Morayshire Farms; - to either of whom, offers may be given in, previous to the day of let.

Haughs of Ashogle

CAPITAL FARM IN ABERDEENSHIRE,

TO BE SUBSET.

The valuable and extensive Farm of HAUGHS of ASHOGLE, in the parish of Turriff, presently in the possession of GEORGE GERARD, Esq. will be subset for the remainder of the Lease, being Ten Crops.

There are in the possession of the present tenant, about 600 acres of Land, in excellent order, rent free, the Proprietor's rent being rather more than paid by two detached sub-tenants.

The farm is most beautifully situated on the Banks of the Doveron, ten miles from Banff, where, and at Macduff, there is always plenty of lime and coal imported, and within two miles of the Post Town of Turriff.  The Mansion House is commodious, and capable of accommodating a large family.  There is a capital Threshing Machine driven by water on the premises, and the accommodation in the other Offices is more extensive and complete, it is believed, than on any other farm in the country.  There is likewise a very snug and productive little Garden, well stocked with Fruit Trees of all kinds in full bearing.  The tenant is entitled to the full value of all the houses on the farm, at the expiry of the lease.

Offers may be made to George Gerard, Esq. at Haughs, the present tenant; Mr Irvine, at Towie, Mr Jamieson, at Cushnie, or James Taylor, writer in Banff.  The marches of the farm will be pointed out by Mr Gerard, or John Robertson, his Grieve, at Haughs.

Farm of Auchinbadie, Alvah

FARM TO LET.

THE Farm of AUCHINBADIE, in the parish of Alvah and county of Banff, as lately possessed by the deceased Thomas Cave, is to be let and entered to at Whitsunday first.  It consists of about 100 acres of fertile early soil, pleasantly situated on the banks of the Dovern, within four miles of Banff and Macduff, and there is upon the Farm, a good slated Dwelling House of two stories, with suitable Offices.  Also the MILL and MILL CROFT of AUCHINBADIE, as possessed by Alexander Finlater.

Application may be made for further particulars, and offers given in to Mr Reid, Town Clerk, Banff, or Mr Hay of Monkshill, Fyvie; and the farm will be shewn by the Grieve at Montblairy.

Narrow Escape at Forglen

NARROW ESCAPE.  –  Upon Saturday last, a boy in attempting to cross Deveron upon the ice at Forglen House, fell through, and became immediately suspended by the arms ; and what tended to make his situation truly perilous was, his great distance from either side – the depth of the river being nearly about seven feet, and the frail and incoherent state of the ice all around him.  But, owing to the prompt measures recommended by the young Ladies at the first moment of alarm, and the exertions of the servants, a rope was at last conveyed to him ; which having tied round his waist, he was dragged to the shore to the inexpressible joy of every person present.  It is highly deserving of notice, that when the case was appearing hopeless, and the poor boy beginning to despond, one of the young Ladies offered to go out and hand the rope to him, having another fixed to herself in case of the ice giving way – a striking proof of that availing principle of humanity which so much distinguishes the family of Forglen.
