Some weeks ago, Alexander Findlay, a poor man about 70 years of age, and who in the early part of his life had served as a private in the army, came to the house of Joseph Reid at Moss-side, in the parish of Banchory Devenick where he was taken ill, and died in two days. He was decently interred by orders from the Kirk Session, and 15s. obtained by the sale of his wearing apparel, were applied towards defraying the expenses incurred.

St Andrews Lhanbryd Kirk Session Minutes, 16th August 1713
The 16 day of Agust 1713 Convened minister and Elders and after prayer called compeared William Allan James Barber who had been severall times summoned to this Session, but delayed to compear untill now and being exhorted to repentance for this Sin of Sabbath breaking would not so much as acknowledge it any falt and would not give any obedience nor satisfaction to God or man saying the Cobles on Spey & Yarrs at findhorn took Sallmond with out interruption so they hade doon no offence The Session thought fit to refer them to the presbytrie the minister was appointed to report them which he undertook to doe.

Durris Kirk Session Minutes, 24th January 1813
After Sermon, the Session met in the Church, and being constitute by prayer, compeared Jean Thomson in Brachmont, who adhered to her former confession & compeared at the same time William Smith and absolutely denied ever being guilty with her.
Jean Thomson being asked when she was delivered of her child, answered on Old New Year's day, being Tuesday the twelfth of this present month of January. Being farther asked, if she had not, on the 29th of November last, declared in the Session; that William Smith was guilty with her in the Fields on the second week of May last, as she thought, but did not remember the particular day (now, if William Smith had been guilty with you at the time you think, you should not have been delivered of your child untill the middle of February ensuing) Answered; that William Smith had been guilty with her frequently; but hoping (the time she emitted the former declaration) he might acknowledge his being the Father of her child; she did not choose to mention that circumstance. Being farther asked; if she could bring any witnesses to prove; that William Smith frequented her Father's House, and of his being at any time or times seen with her in her Father's House, Answered she could. She was desired to bring them to the Session.

Durris Kirk Session Minutes, 29th November 1812
The Session met in the Church, and being constitute by prayer compeared Jean Thomson in Brachmont, who, after being seriously exhorted to ingenuity in her confession, and sincerely in her professions of repentance, adhered to her former confession. At same time appeared William Smith; and asbolutely denied being ever guilty with the said Jean Thomson. The Minister seriously exhorted him to ingenuity; but still, he persisted in his denial. Jean Thomson having been asked if she had any presumption to alledges against him, Answered; that he was guilty with her in the Fields on the second week of May last, as she thinks, but does not remember the particular day. The Session refer the Matter to the Presbytery for their advice.

After Sermon the Session met in the Church and being constitute by prayer, compeared Jean Thomson in Brachmont; and declared that she was with Child in Uncleanness, & that William Smith Farmer in Brachmont was the Father of her child. May 10th. Session met & c. Annent Joseph Mcdonald and Margt. Mantoch under Citation to this Diet, they were called, Margt. Mantoch compeared, and adhered to her former confession, the Man compeared not, Confessed also Ann Mantoch under citation, as a Witness in the above Cause, aged thirty three, and being purg[e]d of Mallice & partial Counsel, and being solemnly sworn, deponed that upon the Bridge of Spey, in a conference betwixt Joseph McDonald, and her Sister, the said Joseph McDonald declared, he would acknowledge to be Father of her Child, if it came to his time, he also said he would be damned the day he would refuse his own and depones this is the truth, and as She cannot write, impowers the Moderator to subscribe her Deposition, he hand touching the Pen. As the Man had not compeared the Session thought proper to defer the Matter for some time.

The Session being met & Constitute Compared on citation Christian Murchy a married woman, who says she came from the Parish of Boharm, that she is with child since Christmas last to James Littlejohn an unmarried man presently residing in Buckie. She says she was married in Boharm to Francis Grant in that Parish, but they resided together but a very short time as man and wife, & that her said husband is since married viz at Martinmas last to a Woman named Katherine Dow: and that the said Ch. Murchy had one child before this since parting from her husband. The session therefore resolved to summon in James Littlejohn on sunday next before them: & summoned Christian Murchy apud acta likewise to attend on that Day. Sederunt closed with prayer.
