Midmar Farms

FARMS TO LET.

The following Possessions on the Estate of CORSINDAY, 

and Parish of Midmar, are to be Let and entered to at Whitsunday next, viz.

THE FARM of AUCHMORE, possessed by William Stot, containing 83 Acres Arable, to be divided into three Lots, of of 15 Acres, one of 31, and one of 37.

ALSO,

The FARM OF BANDODLE, possessed by Alex. Reid, to be divided into four Lots, one of 9 Acres, two of 12, and one of 24.

Two or more of these Lots on either of the Farms may be conjoined, to suit intending offerers.  These possessions have considerable extent of Pasture, and Muir Ground belonging to them, beside Pasture and Fuel on the Hill of Fair.  The soil of the whole is good, a considerable proportion being old In-field, and good access to Aberdeen by the Midmar and Echt turnpike.

The marches of the Lots will be shewn by John Robertson in Tillybirlach; and written offers will be received by the Proprietor at Corsinday; or Mr Strachan, jun. of Campfield, betwixt and the 18th March; on which day the hole will be Let at Corsinday.

Clatt ploughing match

CLATT PLOUGHING MATCH. - The Clatt Plowman Society, desirous to promote improvement in Ploughing, so essential to the interests of Agriculture, held their first Annual Ploughing Match on Wednesday the 3d curt, upon a field belonging to Mr Mitchell in Auchindellan, when a number of Ploughs started, and every candidate exerted his talents before a numerous crowd of spectators.  The work gave general satisfaction, and after a minute investigation by the judges, they awarded the premiums to the following persons, viz. - the first to George Reid, son to Alexr. Reid, farmer in Drangowan; the second to Alexr. Barclay, son to Alexr. Barclay, farmer in Littlenewton; the third to John Wilson, servant to Alex. Barclay, Littlenewton; the fourth to David Henderson, son to David Henderson, farmer, Newbiggin.

Deskford Kirk Session Minutes, 12th July 1812

The Session met & constituted &c. Compeared Elspet Lawrence & adhered to her former accusation of Alexr. Reid as the Father of her Child.  Compeared also Alexr. Reid & confessed guilt with the said Elspet Lawrence.  This being a case of Adultery, the Session referred it the to Presb[yter]y at their first meeting, & the Officer was appointed to summon them to said meeting.

Deskford Kirk Session Minutes, 5th July 1812

Session met & constituted &c. Compeared Elspet Lawrence an unmarried woman & acknowledged she is with Child & gives Alexander Reid a married man in Berryhillock as the Father, she was summoned apud acta to attend the Session next sabbath & the Officer was appointed to summon the said Alexr. Reid to attend also.
