Compeared Jean Mann New Keith & confessed herself with child in uncleanness to William Kerr an
unm[arrie]d man in Kemp Cairn, who being also present acknowledged the same and having paid in Two shillings and six pence as penalty for the sin of Antenuptial uncleanness they were rebuked absolved & married coram.

Grange Kirk Session Register, 1811

Grange Feby. 10th 1811.  Session met immediately after Publick Worship.  Sederunt Minister & Elders.  Compeared William Farquhar & Isobel Priest confessing themselves guilty of Antenuptial Fornication, profession their Repentance & craving to Absolved.  The Session granted their request & on account of their Marriage Modified their Penalty to 15/- which was accordingly Paid.  And after being sharply rebuked & earnestly exhorted they were absolved.

Sessn. met and constituted &c.  Compeared Robert Mitchell lately married to Sarah Begg and was dismissed from Church censure incurred on account of antinuptial fornication.  Sessn. closed &c.  Pledges paid to poor................... £0/10/0
