ELIGIBLE PROPERTY FOR SALE.

On Friday the 21st June current, at 6 o'clock in the evening, there will be exposed to sale by public auction, within the Lemon-tree tavern in Aberdeen,

A PIECE of GROUND, measuring 54 feet in front along the North-side of the Inverury Turnpike-road, with the Dwelling House thereon.

The Dwelling-house is neatly fitted up, possesses every necessary conveniency, and is always well tenanted.  The ground floor consists of a Shop, which was for sometime occupied by George Thomson, grocer and spirit dealer, and presently by Thomas Hector, where business has always been done to a very considerable extent; and as the property is situated in the neighbourhood of the Printfield Works, and other extensive Manufactories, it is seldom that so eligible an object is to be found in the Market.

Court cases of William Law, John Brebner & John Henderson

The Circuit Court of Justiciary was opened here on Wednesday last, by the Right Hon. Lord Gilles.

William Law, sometime residing in Links of Arduthie, in the County of Kincardine, charged with house-breaking and theft, was outlawed for not appearing.

John Brebner, accused of Forging or Counterfeiting Notes of the Bank of Scotland, and of using and uttering the same, knowing them to be forged and counterfeited.  The prisoner denied the forging and counterfeiting, but pleaded guilty to the uttering and vending as libelled; and the Advocate Depute having restricted the libel to an arbitrary punishment, he was sentenced to seven years transportation.

John Henderson, late servant at the Printfield, Woodside, near this city, accused of one act of theft and house-breaking, and two other acts of theft, denied the first charge, and admitted the two last.  The Advocate Depute having also in this case restricted the libel to an arbitrary punishment, and no proof being led, the prisoner was accordingly found guilty upon his own confession, and sentenced to fourteen years transportation.

John Melvin accused of murder

On Monday last, the Circuit Court of Justiciary was opened here, by the Right Hon. Lord MEADOWBANK.  The only trial before his Lordship was that of John Melvin, residing near the Printfield, acused of the murder of William Shepherd, on the 8th of August last.  The pannel pled Not Guilty, and the case having been remitted to the verdict of an assize; after a trial which lasted the greatest part of the day, the jury returned a verdict of Not Proven, upon which the pannel, after a suitable admonition from the bench, was absoilzied and dismissed from the bar.  It appeared in evidence, that the deceased had met his death in a drunken scuffle at the last Greenburn Market, having received several mortal cuts in the groin, of which he died in two days afterwards.
