Robert Stirling, merchant in Rosehearty

NOTICE to DEBTORS and CREDITORS,

AND ROUP OF GOODS, &c.

There will be sold by public roup, at Rosehearty,

THE whole STOCK of GOODS, formerly belonging to ROBERT STIRLING, Merchant there, now to Trustees for behoof of his Creditors - consisting of Cloths of great variety - Grocery Goods of all descriptions - Ironmongery - Dressed Hemp - Ropes - Crockery-ware, &c. - Also, his Shop and Household Furniture, including an Eight Day Clock, Chest of Drawers, Bedding, &c.  Credit on security.

Roup to begin on Monday the 3d of May next, at 10 o'clock forenoon, and continue till all be sold off. 

Those indebted to the said Robert Stirling, are desired to make immediate payment to Andrew Oldman, Merchant in Aberdeen, one of the Trustees, to prevent prosecution.  Such of the Creditors as have not lodged their claims, will please give them in to the said Andw. Oldman, without delay.

N.B.  The Trustees will treat with any person who may be inclined to purchase the whole Stock on or before Monday the 26th current.

SHOP BROKE, AND REWARD OFFERED

WHEREAS on the night of Friday the 10th inst. the Shop of ROBERT STIRLING, Merchant, Rosehearty, was BROKE INTO, and a considerable quantity of Goods, and some Cash, carried off:

A REWARD OF TEN POUNDS

Is hereby offered to any person, who will give such information as may lead to the conviction of the offenders.  The Reward to be paid, on applying to the said Robert Stirling.

Among the Articles carried off, were a Dozen of SILK NAPKINS; a large quantity of made WAISTCOATS; several Pieces of WOOLLEN CLOTH; and a Drawer containing from £5 to £6 in copper.

Prizewinning Buchan ploughmen

BUCHAN PLOUGHING MATCH. - On Friday, the 11th inst. the Competition for the Premiums given by the Highland Society of Scotland to the best Ploughmen, took place in a Field at Aberdour House, before a Committee of the Society, and a number of Proprietors and respectable Farmers of the District.  At 11 o'clock, on a signal being given by the Convenor, Twenty-Four Ploughs started, one of which was drawn by Oxen; and the Work being finished, the Judges, after examining every Lot in the most careful manner, awarded the Premiums as follows, to the satisfaction of all present:

No. I - Being Three Guineas, and one of the Society's Medals - to David Cunningham, Servant to Mr Ross, in Tyrie.

No. II - Two Guineas and the other Silver Medal - to William Club, Servant to the Revd Mr Craik.

No. III - Two Guineas, to James Pirie - Servant to Mr Paton, in Towie.

No. IV. - One Guinea and a Half - to William Brown, Servant to Mr Gamack, Coburty.

No V. - One Guinea - to William Duncan, junior, in Killiewharp.

No. VI. - Half a Guinea - to William Grant, senior, Servant to Mr Ross, in Mains of Tyrie.

A liberal Subscription was made for the unsuccessful Candidates, to encourage them to future exertions in the most laudable of all undertakings; and the afternoon passed in the greatest harmony, an excellent Entertainment having provided, by Mr Cowie, from Rosehearty.

ROBERT WALLACE: THEFT

THEFT.

UPON the Night between the 14th and 15th current, ROBERT WALLACE, a middle aged man, a native of Rosehearty, calling himself a Cattle Dealer, went away from the house of JAMES KIRTON, at Ellon, and carried off from a Gentleman in his house a Parcel of NOTES to a considerable amount.  He was dressed in a mixed short coat, striped vest, corduroy breeches, and light coloured stockings; was a man of fair complexion, and had the mark of a scar on his left cheek.

A REWARD of FIVE GUINEAS is hereby offered by James Kirton, (over and above what the gentleman himself will give to whom the Notes belonged) to any person who will apprehend him.

HOUSE, WAREHOUSE, &c

For Sale in Rosehearty.

To be sold by roup, within the house of John Cowie, vintner, Rosehearty, on Tuesday the 15th January, at One o'clock afternoon,

THAT DWELLING HOUSE, SHOP, Ware-house, Barn and Byres, and Ground at the back of the same, sitiuated at the head of the town of Rosehearty, formerly belonging to John Renny, Merchant there, now to trustees for behoof of his creditors.

The premises are centrical; and the Houses substantially built, having been erected and fitted up for Mr Renny's particular convenience, and afford an eligible opening for any person having occasion for such accommodation.

The title deeds and articles of roup are in the hands of Phineas Daniel, Writer in Fraserburgh, to whom or to George Yeats, Advocate in Aberdeen, application may be made for further particulars.
