Peter Henderson, drowned in the Don

Lately, as some people were going to the Church of Kemnay, their attention was attracted by a man's hat sticking up through the ice in the river Don; from which, and the discovery of a leather bag, or wallet, containing some provisions, they were led to a farther search, when the body of a man was found in the bed of the river.  On taking up the body, it appeared, from the papers in his pocket-book, that his name was Peter Henderson, a Chelsea Pensioner, who, it seems, had very improperly been allowed to leave a neighbouring public-house at a very late hour, the night preceding, in a state of Intoxication; and, mistaking his way, had lost his life in the Don, leaving a wife with three children, herself pregnant with the fourth, to lament his melancholy fate.

FARM ON DONSIDE TO LET.

There will be sold by public roup, at one o'clock afternoon, upon Thursday, 31st day of March current, within the house of George Ronald, vintner, Aberdeen,

THAT excellent Small Farm, the MAINS of KEMNAY, upon Don-side, as presently possessed by Wm. Duncan, for the Remainder of his Lease, being 19 years after Whitsunday first; together also with the THRESHING MILL, which is driven by water.  As the tenant may have immediate access to the Farm, the Dung on the Farm, together with some Crop, and Farming Utensils, will be given over to the incoming tenant, by appreciation.  There is an excellent Steading of Farm Houses; and, from its vicinity to Kintore, Manure can be easily procured, and a ready market afforded for the sale of Farm Produce.

The articles of roup, with the landlord's inventory, and Wm. Duncan's tack from the proprietor, lie in the hands of John Ewing, Advocate in Aberdeen, who will give any information wanted respecting the sale.

Kemnay Kirk Session Minutes, 17th March 1811

Sd. day, Session was called, & being met & constitute, Sedt. the Modr. & all the Elders.  Compeared Agnes Reid, an unmarried woman of this Parish & confessed that she has brought forth a child in uncleanness & being desired to name the Father, she accused Alexr. Caskie, an unmarried man in Aberdeen, who, she said, had left the County some time ago.  She was ordered to procure intelligence of Caskie as soon as possible.  Sess. closed &c.
