Ann Wylie & Rachel Campbell: prison sentence

On Monday last, Ann Wylie and Rachel Campbell, lately servants to Messrs Gordon, Barron, & Co. at their Cotton Mills, Woodside, having been convicted before the Sitting Magistrate of stealing from the Manufactory of their said masters, were sentenced by him to be confined in Bridewell for the space of Six Calendar Months; and to stand on the Pillory for one hour, previous to their imprisonment in Bridewell.

Fetteresso Kirk Session Register, 1811

At Kirk of Fetteresso 10th Feby 1811 After Prayer Sedt. Mr Geo. Thomson Moderator Robert Duncan & John Davidson Elders - Compeared Ann Wyllie, an unmarried woman, who, being interrogated, confessed that she was with child.  Being asked who was the father of her child, declared it was Alexr. Hanes, an unmarried man, presently servant at Barras.  Compeared Margaret Fyfe, an unmarried woman, & confessed that she had brought forth a child.  Being asked who was the father of her child, declared it was James Mitchel, an unmarried man in Links of Arduthie.  They were both suitable exhorted by the Moderator and summoned apud acta to attend the Session this day three weeks & the officer was ordered to summon Mitchel.  The Moderator promised to write Mr Walker to cause Hanes be summoned to attend at the same time.  George McDonald mentioned in a former Minutes, when summoned had declared he would not attend.
