Seaman's body found at Footdee

On Friday night about 9 o'clock, some sailors passing along the beach in front of the Dock-yards at Footdee, discovered the body of a seaman lying within the high water mark.  He was immediately removed to a neighbouring house, and medical assistance procured; but the vital spark was extinct.  It was not known how long he had been in the water.  He belonged to the brig Lion of this port.  In his pocket was found a letter addressed to a female, and signed "John Coutts".
