Heavy hearts in Portsoy

On 25th September we remember four young Portsoy men who lost their lives in the battle of Loos.

  1. Hi Alison, do you have anything further for William McKimmie?

  2. Most of this data comes from the Commonwealth War Graves site: www.cwgc.org . However, it doesn't name his next of kin. McKimmie isn't an especially common name in Banffshire. It would be worthwhile checking local census records for a William McKimmie born in about 1893.

  3. You could also get in touch with the Gordon Highlanders to find out whether they have any additional information in enlistment records: http://www.gordonhighlanders.com/Family+History#.VpFyW7aLTow
