Disastrous fire at Heatherwick
On Monday, the 5th instant, about six o'clock in the morning, the house of Andrew Low, quarrier at Hedderwick, was observed to be on fire. Every effort proved ineffectual to extinguish it, and the whole was consumed, with the exception of two chests, containing part of the family's clothes. By the exertions of the unfortunate people, and the friendly assistance of their neighbours, the house was roofed the same day, and made habitable the next.
