Garioch Livestock Show

At the Competition for Premiums given by the Garioch Farmer Club, which took place at Old Rain, on the 8th current, there was an excellent show of Cattle and Horses.

The Premiums were adjudged as follows, viz:-

For	the 1st best	BULL,	to Mr Davidson, Cairnbroggie.
	the 2d	Do.	to Mr Marr, Cairnbroggie.
	the 3d	Do.	to Mr Williamson, Bethelnie.
For	the 1st best	COW,	to Mr Horn Elphinstone, of Logie Elphinstone.
	the 2d	Do.	to Mr Marr, Cairnbroggie.
	the 3d	Do.	to Mr Leslie, Badenscoth.
	the 4th	Do.	to Mr Walker, Fintray.
For	the 1st best	QUEY,	to Mr Davidson, Cairnbroggie.
	the 2d	Do.	to Mr Walker, Fintray.
	the 3d	Do.	to Mr Marr, Cairnbroggie.
For	the 1st best	MARE,	to Mr Walker, Fintray.
	the 2d	Do.	to Mr Davidson, Cairnbroggie.
	the 3d	Do.	to Mr Stephen, Conglass.
For	the 1st best	FILLY,	to Mr Horn Elphinstone, of Logie Elphinstone.
	the 2d	Do.	to Mr Arthur Clark, Kintore
	the 3d	Do.	to Mr Booth, Fisherford of Auchterless
	the 4th	Do.	to Mr George Rae, Fintray.

Landed proprietors being precluded by the regulations of the Club, from receiving Premiums; the premiums for the Cows, fell to be paid to Mr Marr, Mr Leslie, and Mr Walker; and those for the Fillies, to Mr Arthur Clark, Mr Booth, and Mr George Rae.

As a proof the excellence of the Cattle exhibited, the Bull (2 years old) which claimed the 2d Premium, was sold for Twenty Pounds sterling, after the show.

Upwards of forty gentlemen, proprietors, and farmers, dined at Pitmachie Inn: General Hay in the chair: and the afternoon was spent with all that harmony and hilarity, which has ever characterised the meetings of the club.

Garioch Ploughing Competition

The Ploughing Competition for the Premiums given by the Highland Society of Scotland, in the District of Garioch, book place on the Farm of Old Rayne, occupied by Mr James Philip, on Thursday the 27th October, when the Prized were awarded by the judges as follows -

1st, Three Guineas, and the Society's Silver Medal, to William Reid, servant to Mr Stephen, Conglass.

2d, Two Guineas, and a Silver Medal to William Anderson, servant to Mr Keith, Netherthird.

3d, Two Guineas, to Alex. Watson, servant to ditto.

4th, One Guinea and a Half, to John Geddes, servant to Mr Smith, Greenhall.

5th, One Guinea, to William Morrison, servant to Mr Jopp, Nether Boddom.

6th, One Half Guinea , to Peter Rough, Portstown.

The Ploughing was executed much to the satisfaction of the judges.  After the business, upwards of thirty Gentlemen dined together at Pitmachie; and passed the evening with that harmony and conviviality which ever attends Meetings having the agricultural interests of the country as their object.
