The Session met & constituted, compeared Eliz. Clockie & James Mackie.  Said Clockie being suitably exhorted & admonished, was interrogated, still persisted in accusing said Mackie as the father of her child now brought forth - Said Mackie as positively denied all guilt or carnal connexion with said Eliz. Clockie. - The Session deferred the farther consideration of this affair that both parties might have full time to reflect, & they were accordingly suitably exhorted to ingenuity.

The Session met & constituted Sederunt the Minister, Elders & Clerk - compeared Eliz. Clockie an unmarried woman in this Parish & acknowledged herself to be with child begot in fornication, & accused James Mackie an unmarried  [man] also in this Parish, as the father of her said child - said Clockie being suitably exhorted to ingenuity, was cited to attend the Session, Sunday next, to which Diet the Officer was appointed to cite said Mackie.

Over Oldwhat Farm, New Deer

EXTENSIVE FARM TO BE LET.

THE Farm of OVER OLDWHAT of BRUCKLAY, in the parish of New Deer, as at present possessed by James Mackie, is to be let at Mr Lawa's in New Deer on Tuesday the 26th November next, at 12 o'clock noon.

This Farm contains 23A. 1R 37F. of Old Infield; 70A. 2R. 30F. of Outfield; 15A. 3R 6F. of Green Pasture; and 388A. 1R. 24F. of Muir, capable of being cultivated at a small expence.

The lands extend along the high-road from Peterhead to Banff, are in the neighbourhood of several Limestone Quarries, and not distant from Shell Sand.  Allowance will be given for Building and Enclosing.

For particulars, enquire at Alexander Crombie, Advocate in Aberdeen.  James Greig, at Mill of Brucklay, will shew the marches.

BEGS leave to inform his Friends and the Public, that he has now commenced CARRIER between these places, in room of the late JAMES MACKIE.  GOODS for Stonehaven, Laurencekirk, Brechin, Forfar, Kirrymuir, Glammis, Dundee, Cupar of Fife, St. Andrews, and Edinburgh, will be received at James Cooper's, Stabler, North-Street, and carefully attended to.

He sets out from the said James Cooper's, on FRIDAY, every fortnight.

Accidental death of James Mackie

On Wednesday night last, James Mackie, carrier betwixt Dundee and Aberdeen, was killed by the overturning of his cart, in the wood of Tealing, on the Forfar road, about six miles from Dundee.  It would appear the accident was occasioned by the cart coming in contact with one of those cairns of metal so frequently to be found ornamenting the sides of the highways, - but compelling the unfortunate traveller to traverse the many hills and dales with which the middle of the roads (in Forfarshire at least), are so charmingly diversified.  The deceased, who is supposed to have been walking alongside, was found below the cart, the neave of which had entered his back, and caused his immediate dissolution.  The accident was discovered by the howling of his dog.  The poor man has left a wife and large family to lament his loss.
