JUSTICE OF PEACE COURT
At a Justice of Peace Court, lately held at Ellon, a Servant who had engaged for the Summer half-year with Alexander Findlay, at Little Mains of Auchleuchries, but who refused to enter upon her service, was fined in the mitigated penalty of £1. 10s. sterling, the Wages engaged for having been £2. 10s. sterling. The action was brought for insolent conduct, and the penalty afterwards generously given to the poor of the parish.

Interesting articles, neat blog. I'm planning a trip to Aberdeen next summer to visit the area of Scotland my ancestor is from. These old news articles are interesting, but I'm hoping I don't see g-g-grandfather's name in a criminal report :)
